Advent 2025 Resources

Advent Resource Recommendations

As the days grow shorter and lights begin to glow in windows and along streets, we enter one of the most meaningful seasons of the Christian year — Advent. It’s a time of anticipation and reflection, a time when we quiet our hearts to remember the promises of God and look forward with joy to the celebration of our Savior’s birth — Immanuel, “God with us.”

Advent invites us to wait in hope, to dwell in the story of redemption, and to remember that Jesus came not only as a baby in Bethlehem but as the fulfillment of every promise God ever made. Whether you journey through Advent as a family gathered around the table or individually in quiet moments with the Lord, this is a season to let wonder and worship fill your heart.

To help you draw near to Christ this Advent, we’ve gathered a few recommended resources for both families and individuals. Each one offers a unique way to enter the story of Christmas with fresh eyes and renewed joy.

The Biggest Story Advent: 25 Lift‑the‑Flap Devotions for Families

Kevin DeYoung

This is an interactive, child-friendly Advent devotional that helps children see how the birth of Jesus is the climax of God’s unfolding redemptive story. Each day of Advent includes a lift-the-flap surprise (revealing a Bible verse and illustration), a retelling of a related Bible story or prophecy, and a short prayer to guide family reflection. The readings begin in Genesis and move forward toward Matthew’s Gospel, helping kids connect Old Testament promises to their fulfillment in Christ. Ideal for families with elementary-aged children who enjoy hands-on elements and visual engagement.

Highlights & advantages:

  • Encourages wonder through daily “reveal” moments

  • Keeps the focus on the grand narrative of Scripture (not just Christmas)

  • Short, manageable devotions that children can follow

  • Helps parents guide conversations about how each promise points to Jesus
